I opened my eyes to see that there was no sun peeking through the curtain, most likely because it was 6am on a Sunday morning. Why you may ask why I was up at 6 AM on a Sunday morning? Well it was the first day of three that I would spend at mount Cardigan with half my grade and I was so excited. I knew whatever happened in the next couple of days it would undoubtedly be an adventure. Once at my school I boarded the bus that planned to take us over an hour away to mount Cardigan. In spite of it being a long bus ride we managed to fill the time singing, especially Baby Shark and Sofia the First. I peered out the window at the passing farm-like landscape and saw a sign that said we were only ten minutes away from Cardigan. I practically jumped for joy! When we arrived at the barn style lodge I saw it was painted white and there was a gathering of staff at the door ready to carwal us to the field next to the lodge to play a game. In spite of being so excited I felt a wave of drowsiness pass over me probably the early hours catching up to me. After playing a couple games in the big field, I was starved and ready for lunch. However before that could happen we all gathered in the mess hall/ lounge to hear about the rules. There were quite a few and well we ate lunch, the adults gathered to chat about our hiking groups. Then they came inside and sent us up to our rooms to get unpacked. I was sharing a bunk room with some of my best friends. We were getting ready for our first hike of three and everybody was buzzing with excitement. We had gotten a list of all the things we would need for the trip ahead. Bella (my best friend) and I were assigned Erin as our leader and were instructed to meet in the library. So we bid farewell to everyone else and headed down stairs. Once there Erin had us create mountain goals not only that but we had to find and plan our route. We still had a little time before we had to go on the hike so we decided to go outside and play a game called...Dance Animals! For about 30 minutes. We found out from Erin that we would be doing the compass course first. It's a course where you get to use a compass to try and get to different places on the hill that used to be a ski slope. After we finished that fun activity we went to the pond to sketch quickly. Soon after that we went out for our last day 1 hike. Which turned out to be a relaxing nature hike which included a very beautiful stream. We were the first group to get back to the lodge so me and Bella got to shower first on the girls floor. After that we had free time where we played Uno and drank hot chocolate. A few hours later we ate dinner and had stories told to us. After that we got ready for bed and went to sleep. However, little did I know what was ahead in this grand adventure at Mount Cardigan.

Human/Environment Interaction, What Happens When the Enviroment Interacts With Us, or Us With It...

You probably know about structures, like fire towers, and railings. However what I bet you did not know is that these structures fall into the category of human/environment interaction which is a theme of geography! Human/environment interaction definition is how people affect the environment and how the environment affects us. An example of human/environment interaction is the fire tower on the top of Mount Cardigan that was put up on the mountain so we could monitor fires and prevent forest fires. Another is the lodge we slept in which was originally built as a barn. The environment affected us the most because we had to have proper gear to live there. The history and lessons that we learned about here is part of the reason why the mountain was so beautiful.
